3 Attractions in Cairo, Egypt under $15

Citadel of Cairo

Experience architecture, history and religion all at once at the famous Citadel of Cairo which was completed in 1176, this was built to protect the city from crusaders. The Mosque of Muhammad Ali also known as the alabaster mosque, is located inside which is still used as a place of worship. You must wear a scarf covering your shoulders and hair to enter. You can see both of these for about $8 USD ~ 100 Egyptian pounds, this is the cost for foreigners. I recommend purchasing tickets when you arrive.

You can also get great views of Cairo here

The Egyptian Museum

If you enjoy learning about history, seeing ancient artifacts, like statues, jewelry & mummies you have to visit the Egyptian museum. You could spend a couple hours here and still not see everything. I definitely recommend getting a guide or listening to an audio guide. The cost to get in is about $8 ~ 75 EP.

The Bazaar District

Looking to bargain and shop? Visit the Bazaar district its a great place to roam even if you don’t have a lot of souvenirs to purchase. There’s so much colorful art and food, it reminded me of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. It’s also FREE to roam!

#TravelTip I highly recommend getting a guide because you will LEARN SO much more this way, not only about the attractions but the people and culture too. They’ll know what shops you should visit in the Bazaar for the best deals 😊
